Originally developed to fit clubs to TaylorMade tour professionals, the TaylorMade Performance Lab uses motion capture technology to gather vital swing information and statistics by way of a launch monitor, six high-speed video cameras and a computer to capture the golfer’s swing in sharp, 3-D animation – the same technology used in today’s popular movies and video games.
Thirty-four reflective markers are placed on the golfer as well as on the shaft and head of the fitting club to capture a number of swings with the driver, iron, wedge and putter. The two and one-half hour custom fitting experience includes recommendations for a driver, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, putter and even the correct golf ball. Using interchangeable heads and shafts, the golf professional then builds the recommended clubs and you are able to test the new clubs on the Lab’s grass driving range. You will also receive a CD to take home which contains all of the captured swings and club recommendations. Clubs can be purchased, with no charge for customization, at prices competitive with any authorized TaylorMade retailer, including discount stores and the internet.
