Sergio Strikes Again!
By mustang6560 on 5/22/13
The Sergio Garcia said, Tiger Woods said — or the pro-Sergio marshal said, pro-Tiger marshal said — feud is over.

The Spaniard brought "Marshalgate" to an abrupt end last night. At the European Tour's awards dinner Tuesday ahead of the BMW PGA Championship, Sergio was asked if he planned to invite Tiger over for dinner during the week of the U.S. Open next month.

In an apparent failed attempt at humor, the Spaniard replied:
"We will have him round every night. We will serve fried chicken."
Sergio, or one of his close associates, realized his comments were going to send a shockwave across the pond quickly and immediately released a statement through the European Tour.
"I apologise for any offence that may have been caused by my comment on stage during The European Tour Players' Awards dinner. I answered a question that was clearly made towards me as a joke with a silly remark, but in no way was the comment meant in a racist manner."
Tiger responded to Sergio's remarks via Twitter a little over an hour ago. He said:
The comment that was made wasn't silly. It was wrong, hurtful and clearly inappropriate...

I'm confident that there is real regret that the remark was made.

The Players ended nearly two weeks ago and it's long past time to move on and talk about golf.
The good news, as I mentioned above, is the Tiger-Sergio feud is over — for now. Sergio simply cannot make any further comments on the situation or he'll lose even more fans.

Does anyone else want to see a Tiger-Sergio final round pairing at Merion?
