Reed-ing The Greens At Doral
By Torleif Sorenson on 3/10/14
Patrick Reed just keeps getting better and better. First, he won the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship on Sunday at Trump National Doral, fresh off a Gil Hanse redesign.
Second, this is his third victory in his last 14 starts, going back to the Wyndham Champioinship in Greensboro, North Carolina last August.
Third, he broke a Tiger Woods record that Tiger can never have back:
But as Ryan Lavner
"I've worked so hard, I've won a lot in my junior career, did great things in (my) amateur career, was 6-0 in match play in NCAAs, won NCAAs two years in a row, got third individually one year, and now I have three wins out here on the PGA Tour. After being questioned about who he feels are the other top five players in the world right now, Reed answered with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Graeme McDowell, and Dustin Johnson.
Jason Sobel summed up the situation pretty well:
Reed himself has yet to even play in one of the four men's professional majors, although his three wins put him squarely in the field for the 78th Masters Tournament, which begins on April 10th.
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods continues to be hampered by back spasms. On Sunday, he went into spasm following a bunker shot from an awkward stance at the 6th hole. Unlike last week, Woods was able to finish the tournament, but said afterward what is preparation will be for the Masters Tournament — and if he might withdraw from the Arnold Palmer Invitational in order to prepare for Augusta.
