Your missing out on some cool charts...
Nathan Trifone a.k.a. mustang6560
Each week we're going to feature a "regular" golfer from the ClubSG community. It doesn't matter if you're a pro or a Joe, this is your chance to shine. First up- Nathan Trifone.
How old are you and what's your occupation? I am 24 years old and I work in marketing. When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap? I first started playing golf as a young boy. My parents bought a junior set of clubs which included a 1-wood and 3-wood, all the odd numbered irons and a putter which me and my sister shared. I consider myself a bogey golfer. I still don’t have an official handicap but I would say it’s around an 18. How often do you play? After college and before I started working full-time, I played a few times a week. I would tee off in the morning after the morning crowd but before the lunch crowd. It’s winter time now and with my job, there is not much time to play. Once day light savings time begins again I plan to play more. Tell me about a great shot you've made. Hole 11 on my home course is my arch nemesis. It is not an unusually long hole. What makes it difficult is the canal that runs across the width of the fairway about 225 yards out. It forces you to lay up leaving anywhere from 190 to 250 yards to the green depending on your shot off the tee. It is rare for me to drive the green in regulation, let alone par the hole. One September morning, after a solid 3-iron, I was left with 215 yards to the pin. With the front of the canal looming, I hit one heck of a 3-wood and drove the green. Two putts later, I made par. What is your best golf memory? My greatest golf moment is when I was able to play at the Finchley Golf Club in England. A personal golf goal of mine is to play golf every continent. Two down. Five more to go (Do they golf in Antarctica?). What is your "home" course? My home course is Colonial Country Club, Jackson Course. What ball do you play? I’m not partial to any particular ball. I typically play with Callaway, Nike and Titleist. I’m not a ball snob. Clubs? My notable clubs are my Callaway X460 driver, Cleveland CG12, 56 degree wedge and Nike Ignite putter. I’m in the process of replacing my irons. Check back later… Tell me once when SkyCaddie saved you a stroke. On the par 3 number 4 at Colonial, I used to hit my 4-iron off the tee box. But the first time I played with the SkyCaddie, the distance to the green measured 192. For me, that is a 3-iron. Thanks to the SG5, I was able to save a stroke by not landing in the short, right bunker. Favorite pro? David Toms. He is a fellow LSU alumni. Geaux Tigers! Favorite course you've played? My favorite course to play was at the Finchley Golf Club. It was a unique experience being able to play in a different country. I didn’t score well, but it was great fun! Dream course you've yet to play? Pebble Beach. Who DOESN'T want to play Pebble Beach? Best round ever- and what course? My lowest score is an 84. It was at my home course at Colonial. What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year? I want to start hitting more greens in regulation. In order to make more pars, I need to get on the green more. Tell me a story. Golf is the best sport to learn to play. It is more physical than most think and you can play until a ripe old age. It is great to see older members walking the course with friends. I hope to be like that one day. Thanks! Interested in being next weeks featured golfer? email us here [ comments ] Looking good! Can't wait to see you start entering scores into ClubSG and watching your progress. 12/11/09
