Your missing out on some cool charts...
Chris Hehenkamp a.k.a. Mr_Topher
How old are you and what's your occupation?
27, Banker When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap? I "started" golfing when I was 16, However during this time I was only going to the Range with a friend and a driver to see who could hit a ball further. Beyond that I had no other interest in the game. It was about 5 years ago that I played my first round when I was invited out to play at a friends 9 hole course out in the middle of nowhere. We went out and played and I was enjoying myself alright, however it was not until the 9th and final hole for the day that I got hooked. I managed to hit a tree off of my drive from the tee only to have the ball land about 2 yards from the green. I setup with a pitching wedge to put the ball as close to the pin as I could and it ended up landing a yard from the hole and rolling in for birdie. I was hooked from that shot. It would not, however, be until 3 years after that, that I actually started playing more then maybe 3 times a year. In 2008 I started golfing with my father every Wednesday in a small league, bought my own clubs and worked my way up to playing 3 times or more a week by the end of 2009 and still going strong. My current Handicap, according to ClubSG, is 17.5. How often do you play? As mention above I get out on average 3 times a week. May this year was a little rough as I was golfing 3 times a week starting in April but also hitting the range another 3 times a week and I pulled a few muscles under my ribs. That put me out of the game for 2 weeks and then I just played easy for the next couple weeks. Currently 95% recovered and back to playing 3 times a week. Tell me about a great shot you've made. My favorite shot ever has to be during my first round ever, sinking a birdie chip shot from 2 yards off the green on the last hole of the day. The greatest shot I have ever made in my opinion had to be my second shot to get on the green on a par 4. I was maybe 60 yards from the green with only a 30 to 40 foot tree (I am bad with height guess'timates but it was about as tall as a normal 2 storey house with an attic) standing between us and my ball maybe 15 yrds out from the tree. I grabbed my Sandwedge ( I still don't own a LOB wedge) set the ball in front of my front foot and let'er rip. Straight over the tree and landed 2 feet from the hole. I keep thinking I could make the same shot again and have been proven wrong many times. What is your best golf memory? I play Golf with my Father more then anyone else, at least twice a week. The day I final beat him for the first time is my best golf Memory. It showed me I was improving and also finally convinced him he should stop taunting me so much about him winning all the time or I may just be tempted to do it more often! What is your "home" course? I dont have an official home course I would have to say Hidden Lake Golf Club in Burlington, Ontario. I play there once a week in the previously mentioned Golf League. What ball do you play? Nike, Typically the SFT as its best value ball I have found. Clubs? I play Nike clubs. My first "real" set of clubs I bought were the Nike Slingshot 4D's. They had been on sale at my local golf store and were the cheapest set of clubs that I tried out and enjoyed hitting. Any other club I tried was about twice the price and at the time I wasn't hitting the other clubs any differently. I was actually hitting the Nikes a little better then the rest. I then went on to buy the Dymo STR-8 Fit driver on Boxing Day (For the American viewer unfamiliar with this Canadian day of buying, Boxing Day is the day after Christmas when most stores offer huge discounts on last years Merchandise) I got the Drive 60% off. The most recent Club I bought was a Nike VR hybrid. I hit this club a few times in the sim and liked it and also figured I may as well continue the theme throughout my bag. I only go astray with my Putter which is the Odyssey White Hot XG Teron. My complete bag can be viewed at my ClubSG Profile. Favorite pro? I'm still a Tiger Fan and will continue to be, however I have been watching a lot of Mickelson and have enjoyed his game. I am slowly being converted to a Mickelson follower. Favorite course you've played? Paris Grand Country Club in Paris, Ontario. This course was absolutely beautiful, this is the same round in which I injured myself earlier this year and it was still one of my favorite course experiences. It was a fun course with a few challenging holes and just overall spectacular scenery. At least that's how I remember it. I will be going back soon. Dream course you've yet to play? TPC Sawgrass, I want to play the 17th hole. I don't think this will ever happen tho. I will be crossing my fingers that I or a friend win the lottery! Best round ever- and what course? This is an interesting question which could have two answers. My lowest score is 85 at Hidden Lake. This, I should add, was the very first round I ever played with my SGX and also the first time I broke 80! Lets just say I was Thrilled. However based on Course rating and Slope, my best round could also technically be an 87 at Byrncliff Resort in Varysburg, NY. This is also the first round I ever played at that course so... Give me an example of a time your SkyCaddie saved you a stroke? How about 10? My first round ever with the Skycaddie took 10 strokes off of my average score the very first time I used it. Before I had the SGX I would shoot, on average, mid to high 90's. Since getting the SGX I have been hitting mainly in the area of 88. The only round played with the SGX that I have shot higher then 90 was the round I played at Paris where I was playing with pulled muscles for a little more then half the round. What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year? My long game is where I struggle most. 5 and 4 irons i have trouble getting a hold of and my Driver is unpredictable, I have only managed to stop it from pulling a 90 degree slice every time I pull it out of the bag within the last month. Tell me a story. Once apon a time in a Country far far away...oh wait, you mean a story about a golfing experience? I once managed to get a cart stuck in a mud bog. It had rained the day before and the course still had not had a chance to dry. I was Caddying for my friends dad since I was still unable to play due to injury and was itching to get out on the course if only to enjoy the fresh air. I was not paying attention as we were discussing his next shot and I managed to find the one spot I should have avoided. After attempt after attempt to free my cart from its hole of misery I finally had to call over my brother, friend and his dad, John, to help push out the cart. Apparently its not so easy to finesse the gas pedal on a golf cart to help ease it out of trouble. John was in the cart and the rest of us were pushing, he gave it too much gas...I still laugh at the amount of mud we were all covered in and we were still on the 7th hole. Thanks!
