Richard Jenkins a.k.a. rich318830
How old are you and what's your occupation?
45 years old – SAP Integration manager for a medical distribution company When did you start playing golf and what's your handicap? 5 years ago and 21.9 How often do you play? 8-10 times a month Tell me about a great shot you've made. Drove the ball 145 yards from the green in the adjacent fairway with 30-40 foot tree between me and the green. Pulled out my 7 iron hit the ball over the trees and 2 feet from the hole. This is not a typical shot for me. What is your best golf memory? Last summer 2009 played back to back around on a Saturday at different courses, played pretty well. The best thing was playing with a couple of great friends - we had a blast! What is your "home" course? Darby Creek Golf Course in Marysville, Ohio What ball do you play? I play currently I usually play the cheaper balls Top Flight XL or Mojo’s Clubs? Warrior Driver and Fairway Woods, TaylorMade RAC OS irons, Heavy Putter H3 putter Favorite pro? There are several right now. I guess I would say Phil Mickleson or Zach Johnson both on and off the course. Favorite course you've played? Chapel Hill Golf Course in Mt. Vernon, Ohio Dream course you've yet to play? There are several Best round ever- and what course? 92 - Rolling Meadows Marysville, Ohio Give me an example of a time your SkyCaddie saved you a stroke. Par 5 slight dog leg right. If I would have hit a full driver I would have been in the woods out driving the fairway behind some trees. I checked the SGX and it gave me the correct distance to hit to the bend of the dog leg. I put the driver away and used a 3 wood. Ended up paring the hole! What is one aspect of your golf game you would like to improve on in the next year? Turn my Fade/slice (depend on the day) into a draw. Tell me a story. Around five years ago I weighted 534 pounds and I started to lose weight and was looking for a low impact way to get some exercise and golf seemed to fit the bill. I had played golf a few time before about 15 years prior and liked it well enough, but just never had time to get more involved in the game. During the process of losing 240 pounds I treated myself to a set of clubs and started to play to help keep losing weight. I really enjoyed the game, but was only able to play about 6-10 times a years and wasn’t shooting very well (the usual round was between 130 and 140). A little over 2 years ago I start to play more with some friends and then joined a league and played about 30 rounds a year. I kept trying to teach myself the game and lowered my score to around 115-120 a round. Then late last year I really got addicted and decided to take lesson this winter. What a difference that has made - my current average for the year is 102 and I shot an all time low of 92 (Man did that feel good). Although, I think the wife is getting a little tired of me practicing my swing and putting in the house (LOL). I hope to continue to get better with more lessons and more playing/range time. I just enjoy getting out and playing with good people. If anyone out there is looking to get out for a casual round of golf on the weekend in the Columbus Ohio area send me a message. I enjoy meeting new people and having some fun on the course. I will warn you though I have a lot of work to do to get my game where I wanted it to be. Thanks for the opportunity to share. Thanks!
