Turnberry Golf Club

The famous Ailsa Course is the one that has hosted four memorable Open Championships, including the "Duel In the Sun" between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson in 1977, and in 2009 when Stewart Cink outlasted sentimental favorite Tom Watson in a four-hole playoff.

Nice course. Greens could do with cutting occasionally. Some of the most expensive food in any clubhouse in Scotland.Could be so much better with a little effort.

An excellent hotel and very good links course. Expensive and worth it if the sun shines - definately not in the rain AND wind. Twilight golf is magnificent in summer. The greens were not as good as I would have expected. The Ailsa course is the Open course and keep the ball in play is key; the kintyre is almost as good and has some nicer holes and is a little easier to play (more parklans feel). Challenging but fair and the caddies\ stewards and pro shop are very helpful and friendly.
