The Oaks at Sherwood closed in July of 2013 as a result of the deepening economic recession. It is the second time the course has closed; the most recent ownership had operated the course for 4½ years. However, new owners purchased the properly in November of 2013 and have discussed reopening the course.

The short-but-narrow layout was previously known as Sherwood Forest Country Club.
