In early 2003 Scotty started working on two designs code-named the “coupe” and “cabriolet.” Players on Tour were asking for a traditional mallet so Scotty listened and got to work. He started with the shape, which he wanted to keep simple, and experimented with different metals to achieve the sound and feel that complemented the design. The result was a stainless steel body with a premium precision milled German stainless steel (GSS) insert.
