Golf is a magical game.
It inspires weekend warriors like you and me to get up early on Saturday and Sunday mornings for 18 (and sometimes 36) holes. It motivated Justin Bieber to pick up a guitar. And, according to Ryan Lizza, the game of golf saved President Barack Obama's relationship with former President Bill Clinton. The reconciliation began in earnest late last summer. Patrick Gaspard, the former White House political director, who has moved to the Democratic National Committee, approached Douglas Band, Clinton’s closest political adviser and longtime gatekeeper, with some suggestions about how the former President might help with Obama’s 2012 reëlection campaign. Band, who, by reputation, has an acute sense for moments of political advantage, tried to explain that you don’t just call up Bill Clinton and tell him to raise money and campaign for you. Band recommended that the two Presidents begin by playing golf. The next day, Obama phoned Clinton and invited him out for a round. Several Clinton associates say that this was the moment they realized that Obama truly wanted to win in 2012. Why else would he spend hours on a golf course being lectured by Clinton?It obviously worked because Bill has been campaigning hard for Barack for several weeks now. He even spoke at the Democratic National Convention last night and made a compelling argument as to why Barack deserves another four years. I wonder how many putts Barack gave Bill during their round of golf in order to woo him? Rumor is Bill likes to push the limit of "inside the leather", so I'm pretty sure Barack had to loosen his interpretation of the rule to something like "inside the driver". read more Read an interesting golf article?  jonterrell says:I know Romney will just put America deeper into a recession than we are now. He could not run a company without corrupt dealings and he was not a good gov. I am sure he would not make a good president. By the way I think whoever gets the job they better work together in Washington or we are all in trouble. 9/9/12
