USGA to Host First U.S. Open Champions Dinner

The USGA wants the folks at Augusta National to know that The Masters isn't the only major championship with tradition.
According to Golf News Net, the USGA will host the inaugural U.S. Open Champions Dinner next Tuesday.
The USGA will host a champions dinner for the first time ever at Merion Golf Club, just outside of Philadelphia. Golf Digest's Dave Shedloski first tweeted about the dinner on Feb. 9.To be honest, I'm surprised the other three majors didn't already have a version of a Champions Dinner, especially the U.S. Open and The Open Championship since both have been around longer than The Masters.
It wouldn't surprise me to see the R&A follow the USGA's lead and host The Open Championship Champions Dinner next month. If so, you can bet the PGA of America will add its own Champions Dinner in August.
