You Can Bid For Rory's 2014 Open Ball
By Torleif Sorenson on 7/29/14
Just after Rory McIlroy sank the final putt to win the 2014 Open championship at Royal Liverpool, he threw the ball into the grandstands. Now, PGA Tour writer Jonathan Wall reports that a resident of Leeds named Lee Horner, caught the ball — and that he sold the ball to Green Jacket Auctions. ESPN's Darren Rovell checked with Nike, which confirms that the ball is authentic.
The online auction started on July 23 and, as of this writing, the current top bid is US$ 5,053. The auction closes on August 9.
SkyGolf members, what would you realistically pay for that particular piece of golf memorabilia?
