Patriot Golf Day runs today through Monday in the United States. This massive fundraising event is ridiculously easy to join; over 5,300 courses across the nation are participating. For those of you not familiar with Patriot Golf Day, Oklahoma ANG F-16 pilot Major Dan Rooney, Jack Nicklaus, and PGA of America CEO Pete Bevacqua have the explanation: The PGA of America and the USGA are co-sponsors of this annual event, which raises money for educational scholarships for children and spouses of U.S. service-members killed or maimed while in uniform: How Does It Work?It is very simple: When you play at one of over 5,300 courses across the nation this weekend, you can contribute as little as $1 to your greens fee, which goes straight to the Folds of Honor Foundation. This registered 501(C)(3) non-profit organization then awards scholarship money to children and families of dead and wounded U.S. servicemen and women who already attend, or have been accepted to, a an accredited post-secondary institution, including at universities, colleges, technical schools, or other recognized certification programs. The foundation also hosts The Patriot Cup each Memorial Day weekend. Of course, you needn't actually play in order to help Folds of Honor, you can donate online and also download the organizations 990 forms. Read more Read an interesting golf article? Tip Your Editor!
