Upset at Hogan's Alley By Torleif Sorenson on 2/23/15
James Hahn once had to support himself by working in the shoe department at a Nordstrom's department store. Now, the shoe is on the other foot; at the PGA Tour's Northern Trust Open on Sunday, Hahn captured his first PGA Tour victory in a playoff at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. Playing over a very tough course, Hahn's putting boosted him in a playoff over Ryder Cup veterans Paul Casey and Dustin Johnson. Four very well-known quantities tied for fourth, one stroke out of the playoff: World number-six Sergio GarcĂa, 9th-ranked Jordan Spieth, 14th-ranked Hideki Matsuyama, and 31st-ranked Keegan Bradley.
If Hahn's name sounds only vaguely familiar to you, it might be because the Seoul-born California resident was most prominently noticed in 2013 in Phoenix celebrating a birdie, Gangnam Style: Now, James Hahn has a tremendously important two-year exemption on the PGA Tour, is qualified for the Masters Tournament at Augusta, has punched his ticket for a slew of important tournaments, and has leapfrogged from 297th to 86th in the Official World Golf Ranking. And THAT is something to celebrate — maybe even Gangnam Style. Have you seen an interesting golf story? Tell us about it! [ comments ]
GBOGEY says:
I was disappointed he didn't dance when he won - the PGA needs that spirit. Everytime someone like this wins I wonder if its someone we will see again or a one hit wonder that will disappear. Hope he does continue to do well as he seems like a well grounded kid. 2/24/15
