Formerly known as the private "Great Bear Golf & Country Club," this course closed in 2010, but has reopened under new ownership - specifically, Charlie Kirkwood, who also owns the nearby Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort. Jack Nicklaus did the original design when the course opened in 1997, hence the use of the word "Bear" in the course name.

Great Bear is semi-private for now, so visiting golfers are welcome. The standard in-season rates (with mandatory cart) are $75 on weekdays, $95 on weekends and holidays. Sliding twilight and shoulder-season rates are available, as are memberships.

Great course, very fair, lots of elevation change, fabulous greens, great condition.Each hole is very individual, you seldom see anyone else, feels like you have course to yourself
