Ida Dixon might well have been America's first female golf course architect; according to the Springhaven Club's history, she drove the original design of the course that opened here in 1904. This course replaced the club's former location at Providence Road and Jackson Street in nearby Media. Others who have made design changes here include Horace Rawlings, Herbert H. Baker (1910), and William Flynn (ca. 1920s). Two holes were rebuilt in 2005, as well.
