The Marquess of Anglesey commissioned Herbert Fowler to design this course, which opened in 1913 and compares favorably with his other English courses, including Saunton, Walton Heath, and Berkshire. It is also tough enough to have hosted 17 Open Championship regional qualifiers.

Visitors and societies are welcome with prior arrangement; the visitor walking rates are:

Lovely course....lots of variety and very tricky greens. The only thing that ruined it was having to play off little mats as it was winter...the mat got lost after hole 2.

Only thing that ruined the course was a tremendous thunderstorm with over an inch of hail!!!!
