A stunning tough course, always in great shape. Value for money!, its aimed at the rich and famous so don't expect anything cheap, but worth going once.

Beautiful course and it matches up to everything said about it, but I would also like to praise the small course which is a delight to play also.

Played RCD last week prior to the summer rates, WOW what a stunning golf course, great T shots over dunes, a stern wind and big fast greens. A real challenge, and some very famous golfing stars sharing the locker room, will have to go back and beat my score!

Marvellous location. Very slow greens. Too slow for the fame of the course. Too many blind shots

Course was playing incredibly difficult. Greens were like concrete as were the surrounding aprons. Most greens were crowned greens or hog backed and balls would just slide off and run into rough that has been growing for 120 years without anyone cutting it. The rough was airy and felt like walking on pillows. The balls would just disappear even if you saw exactly where it went. Occassionally, when you were lucky enough to find one, it was a challenge just getting it back to the fairway at 90 degrees.
Considering the hefty green fee, the fairways and greens were not in very good condition.
It was windy this day and then the heavens opened up and started dumping rain on us in the 17th fairway. I was soaked from head to toe by the time we finished 18. I fought hard for a par on 18 into a driving rainstorm. My rain gear was in the car.
The mountains in combination with the ocean may make this the single, most gorgeous venue for a golf course that I have ever seen, aside from Cypress Point and maybe Ardglass. It was a surreal experience for sure. Although, I will say that having played Cypress Point and Pebble Beach (both of which along with Royal County Down are consistently ranked as the #1 course in the world), this golf course does not come close to matching those two giants and in my opinion. It's really not even in the same conversation, sorry RCD.
