Played it for the first time in June 2015 with a friend who had played there several times before. Prior knowledge is a definite advantage on this course as it is tight and challenging ball positioning is key.
Very firm conditions added to a links feel with some bizarre ball run ons off the tee.
We played on a Wednesday. The pace was a little tardy (4hrs+) but acceptable.
Millbrook could be really nice but, like so many it seems, appears to be suffering from lack of available finance. The tee boxes were poor an riddled with old divots; the walkways hadn't been managed leaving lots of bone hard, dirt paths.
Greens were in good nick though and quite quick.
The pro shop and clubhouse and car parking are adequate but nothing more.
Despite the seemingly negative comments above I'd recommend anyone to play this course who wants:
a, A thinking challenge
b, Something a little different
Don't expect a manicured facility.
Definitely not a grip it and rip it driving course (which for me is a pleasant change). I will definitely be returning.

Played on a Sunday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. The course was playing quite linksy and the Greens were hard, but in good condition and very true, and quick. A bhit of thought needed on a few holes, and not a course that the driver comes out on each hole. YThink I may have used a driver or 3 wood on 5 or 6 holes. Well kept course, in good nick

Not an easy course, the first hole can ruin your round before you get started. But it's worth persevering because if you can play well here it makes most other courses seem easy. All the staff and members are very friendly and welcoming. The mature trees and views over Bedfordshire make it well worth the visit. A real challenge for serious golfers!
