I played this after a very hot summer and it showed in places. The tee boxes had some bare patches from being scorched, however the greens were excellent and rolled consistently true. One downhill hole had some pretty impressive cracks in it, but apart from that they were in pretty good condition.
The course is currently under new ownership and there is money being spent on it to further develop it. The older reviews probably refer to it in its older guise as Beadlow Manor
The bunkers are best avoided however, especially after rain as the sand is not good with pebbles and can be really hard.
The clubhouse is great, the food, drink and service is absolutely top-notch.
Would I return? Absolutely, the layout is interesting and there is plenty of variety and no 2 holes are the same. A good mix of par 3s 4s and 5s but you will need to plot your way round it quite carefully if you want to score well.
Back again in 2023 and the cracks have gone. The fairways are now in excellent condition. I found some of the greens to be a lot slower than the others but that is the only bad thing to say. As it topped out at around 32oC today just surviving was a success. One day I'll play this in "normal" conditions. All said and done
I really like this course. Our team drew 3-3 with the Cainhoe guys which was nice.
Good food and lovely cold drinks
