This seaside links is set out on one of the three stretches of sand dunes at the head of Dingle bay. In the immediate foreground are the sand dune peninsulas of Rossbeigh and Inch. To the southeast are the famous McGillycuddy's Reeks, while the cooms and hills of Glenbeigh are southwest. The Slieve Mish and Dingle mountains loom to the north. Dooks Golf Links is not as exposed as some Irish courses and features a wide variety of gorse, heather and wild flowers, while the "gentle" wind poses a variable challenge.

The course dates to 1889, although the late Irish architect and professional Eddie Hackett extended the course to 18 holes in the 1970s. Another notable architect, Dr. Martin Hawtree, oversaw further enhancements in 2002.

Visitors are welcome, but advance booking is highly recommended. The peak-season walking rate (July-September) is €90.
