Played a round on the Black course in early September 2014. An over priced public golf course for a non resident and not as iconic as anyone would have one believe, but fair pricing for NY State Residents. I think the resident policy needs some re-evaluation (a drivers license does not make you a resident) Half the fairways were sandy, the greens were pock marked with un-repaired ball marks and I understand that a lot of rounds are played each year. The other down side as far as I am concerned is that Golf has put too high a premium on being extra long off the tee and not enough in shot making, this is reflected in the length at the Black course, if you are not 280+ off the tee, I think that an extra set of forward tees will allow you to experience the wonderful A.W. Tillinghast design. The 10 - 18 handicap player would really get to enjoy this course if it was not for the arrogance of the club. Also, it is beyond any thinking on why there are no holes in the practice putting green, Is not this a game played with the objective of getting a ball in a hole? Pure laziness.
I expected extraordinary playing conditions for the green fees, not an excuse that there are so many rounds played each year.
Golf should not be about arrogance or the fact that PGA Events are played on this course, it should be about the love of the game. There are many other iconic courses that hold to this standard.

The course was awesome, very long on the back and taking a caddie would make the walk much easier.

Beautiful Facility. The Blue course was in great shape. We played on a Monday and were out within 5 minuets of our tee time. It took about 4.5 hours to complete the round.

What a layout! Course strategy is a must. Greens are in excellent shape and very receptive. They putt extremely well. Out of state fees are pretty pricey, but well worth it! I'm looking forward to going back!

well maintained, greens can be fast but are in excellent shape considering the play. Pace can be slow, play only during week if possible.

Played in heavy rain. Had to walk - tough course made even tougher dragging my bag on a pull cart. Greens are exceptional, drained really well in heavy rain. Rough was tough.

The Blue is probably the third best course at BP. Interesting layout with mix of dog legs and elevation changes. Course is long and pace of play is SLOW,SLOW, and SLOW, over 5.5 hours.
