Money has been going into the course and improving it drastically in the past few years. Greens are fast and in great shape, as are fairways. Played early on weekday and finished in 4 hrs.

Good Cause, fairways and greens in great condition, a bit of GUR around the place, once it grows out it should be even better. Wind is a great challenge on this course. Greens have a lot of undulations. Tee'd off at 7.30 on a Sunday was finished by 11.30 good rate of play!

Top 3 option for NYC golfers. Pretty easy layout but better pace of play than others in the area.

long, boring, tedious, frustrating, windy. 19th hole is average at best - wait staff both inattentive and inexperienced. a good course to practice playing in windy conditions and if you like playing to the drone of the Belt Parkway and the traffic noises of Flatbush Ave.

Great layout although someone decided to dump large mounds of dirt around, I think to imitate sand dunes at some point. The new tees will be welcomed. Money would be better spent just keeping up what they already have. Used blacktop for cart paths is a bad idea also

The fairways are open. The greens are very difficult and fast. This is a great public course and very well maintained. They are improving the course by adding more hills.

Best all round public course in NYC. I would like to see fescue grown a bit more, should be penalized for not hitting the fairway on a links course.

Located just off Flatbush Avenue and the Belt Parkway, Marine Park is better than you would probably expect for a muni course in a crappy part of Brooklyn. To its credit, it has length, challenging winds, greens that require proper game , a view of the empire state building, and some interesting design features (it is a Robert Trent Jones design). Pretty good short game practice areas too.
For me thouhg the layout is rough and ultimately uninspiring. There are hardly any trees to provide shade or shelter from the sun and persistent winds. The course is so wide open and quite a few holes lack shape and character, which made rounds kind of grind after a while. I always feel worn out after a round here.
There are a few very good golf holes though. #4 and 7 are nice short par 4's with tough approach shot. #9 is a real challenging tee shot, the approach is no bargain either.
My least favorite hole is #14, which runs alongside and provides an unobstructed view of Flatbush Avenue.
For NYC golfers, its pretty accessible by mass transit. If you're curious and don't have a lot of choice, it's worth checking out. It's no mickey mouse layout, its big boy golf, it will test your game for sure.
