Historic McGregor Links was built by State Senator Edward T. Brackett in 1920. Mr. Brackett funded the entire project and instructed the architects to build to perfection. It was Mr. Brackett's belief that a golf course and clubhouse were important to the continued development of Saratoga Springs as a great health and recreational center.
McGregor's location in Wilton, bordering Saratoga Springs, gives it certain advantages over other courses. The sandy soil provides for a longer playing season. A rapid draining system allows for play as soon as the snow has melted. This drainage system also minimizes the delays experienced after a heavy downpour.
McGregor Links is designed to appeal to golfers of all ability levels with three separate and distinct courses. The beginning course measures 5800 yards, the intermediate, 6400 yards, and the expert course is about 6700 yards long. The tees have been advanced in the shorter course and set back in the expert courses. The rolling style of McGregor's greens and fairways is a delight to play whether you are a scratch handicapper or more of a social golfer. At McGregor you can look forward to a fascinating and exciting round of golf each and every time you tee up.
McGregor Links has hosted two U.S. Open Regional Qualifying Rounds and six N.Y.S. Amateur Golf Championships. Annually McGregor Links hosts the Albany-Saratoga Chapter of the NFL Alumni Association Charity Golf Tournament. As further evidence of its championship caliber, McGregor Links has the highest slope rating of the PGA's Northeast Region.
In addition to McGregor's fine golf course, members enjoy a full service Club House, tennis courts and an Olympic size swimming pool. The Club House, which is open to the public, offers an elegant dining room, spacious lounges, a separate area for dancing, a veranda overlooking the 9th and 18th greens and unique men's and women's locker rooms.
