Rick Graf - 2/29/12
Hasting CC — now a semi-private course and open to the public — is a challenging but enjoyable course to play. The greens are always in great shape. They run fast but true. Your ball on approach shots to the greens checks up well.
The par-4 8th hole deserves to be the number one handicap hole on the course. Stay left on your approach shot to the green. Some of my best approach shots to the 8th have been slightly off the green on the left side by up to two yards, depending on the playing conditions. And remember to take enough club. Again, depending on conditions, I will take anywhere from 1-1/2 to 2 more clubs for my approach shot to the 8th green because it's elevated some 40 feet above the fairway.
The back nine at Hastings CC is more scenic than the front nine. If you score well on holes 13, 14, 15 and 18, you should wind up with a good back nine score.
The staff and rate information posted here needs to be updated. I'll send an email message to Hastings CC about that.
