Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has some local recommendations for exploring British Columbia. My family and I are planning a trip next month, and I want to avoid the usual tourist spots. I remember last time we were in BC, we stumbled upon this small café in Nelson – it wasn’t fancy, but the people there were super friendly and it felt like a hidden gem. Made me realize there’s probably a lot more places like that around BC that aren’t on the main tourist maps. Anyone got suggestions?

I think it’s cool that you’re trying to see BC from a local’s perspective. Personally, I love just getting in the car and driving aimlessly—sometimes you end up finding the most beautiful spots that way. British Columbia has such a diverse landscape, you never know what’s around the corner. Anyway, good luck with your trip! Sounds like you’re going to have an amazing time.

You’re totally right, BC has tons of hidden gems that tourists usually miss. I live near Squamish, and one of my favorite spots is Shannon Falls – most people drive past it on their way to Whistler, but if you take the time to stop, the view is incredible. Another cool way to discover these places is by checking out smaller local sites. If you haven’t already, you should definitely browse through British Columbia Local. It’s got a lot of lesser-known spots listed that could be right up your alley for finding that perfect café or hiking trail.
