About 75 degrees, sunny and very windy - 20-25 mph with gusts up to maybe 30 mph.
Greens slow and bumpy. Still have significant signs of aeration. Fairways soft and a bit shaggy. The course is closing after this weekend and maybe they are saving on mowing costs.
I did not do anything extremely well but generally was reasonably solid tee to green and also with my short game.
This time of year always makes me a bit sad. A week ago there were colorful leaves on the trees and some wild flowers to pick for my wife. Not the fall peak but still nice. This week the rain and wind has pretty much denuded the trees and everything seems to have dried up or gone dormant for winter. It is a pretty bleak scene out there. The maintenance crews are more interested in getting ready for winter (irrigation system purging, leave blowing, aeration, ball washer removal, etc ...) than they are in making the course playable. The course closes this coming week and I doubt I will make it back out here again in 2012.
I will soldier on but it is hard not to think about freezing temperatures and snow. Sigh.
