60 degrees, sunny, a 10-15 mph breeze. Perfect.
Fairways were reasonably firm. Rough was long and difficult in places. Greens were firm but would accept a well struck shot. Speeds were moderate and the surfaces mostly smooth.
I putted like a fiend. Made numerous putts of 5, 10, 15 feet to save par or bogey. My ball striking was pretty poor coming down the stretch after playing well for the first nine. Eventually my shaky play caught up with me down the stretch.
The first nine went quickly and then we got stuck behind two 4 balls who played the back nine in 3 hours, capped off by all 8 of them playing the 18th together. I really thought about saying something to those jokers after the round but fortunately I just got in the car and drove home. No need to wake up in the hospital with the paper's headline: "Idiot Golfer Assaulted in Parking by Mob of Senior Citizens".
