Started om #3 - Shotgun start
About 68 degrees, sunny, little wind - maybe 5 mph. Perfect golf weather.
Fairways were fairly firm and allowed bounce & roll. Rough was uneven with some places thin and others deep and dense ; it could be really tough to advance the ball in some of the thicker spots. Greens were very quick and would accept a well struck shot. They had been aerated in some fashioned with long thin cuts, almost tiny grooves. The cuts had healed but one could see the striations and I started to wonder if the small grooves were causing putts to not break or break as I had a really hard time getting anything into the hole.
As one can tell, I had a tough day putting and my short game was also poor with virtually no up & downs. Seems like I would roll along hitting the ball well and then go brain dead for a moment. #7 is a good example. Drive was long and in the fairway. 3-wood second shot was dead down the middle leaving me 80 yards. I proceeded to skull the sandwedge over the green and had to make a miracle shot from the hazard to save a 6. Sigh, it is always something.
