Beautiful afternoon to play golf. Started with a double on 1 after catching a branch with what looked like a great hybrid into the green. Ball dropped under another tree making it nearly impossible to pitch on. Had to punch out with a 5 iron from 40 yards away. Hit pitch too long. 30' past. Not a great start. Picked it up a bit by the 4th. Nice par after landing in 5th fairway. Couldn't hit 3W today. Cost me at least a couple strokes. Really hurt on par 5, 5th. After a nice drive, hit two poor 3Ws and was still 125 yards out. Saved a bogey there with a nice 9 iron approach to 20'. Finally beat the "toughest par 3 in Connecticut" 6th hole with a nice up and down par. Then parred the tough 8th.
On the back, made par on 4 of the last 5 holes to save an otherwise not so great round. Iron play pretty good again today. Driver off on a few holes, but basically playable, though some real scrambling was necessary. Popped one up on par 5 9th which barely reached the fairway. Still made it to alongside green in 3, but chip only got me to 15'. 2 putted for bogey.
All in all, could have been better, but certainly, could have been worse.
DougEly says:Thanks, but it is on a par 70 course.
