Very Hot. 90s. Uncomfortable. Started off with a great drive on first. Long. Only had 6 iron in from Blue tees which were all the way back, and hit it all the way to the back edge. Parred it. Then hit another straight drive on 2. But, leaked a 4H into the tree on approach, then had to punch out with no clear shot to the green. Layed up, then hit 52* 15 feet past. Two putt for double. Oh well. That seemed to be the theme for the rest of the round. Had to punch out of trouble 4 or 5 times and didn't seem to get the speed down on the putts. kept coming up a foot or less short. Got in trouble on 16 under tree with poor drive. Punched from under tree but it got caught in the thick rough and barely made it out to the fairway. Then fatted a 5W into the hazard. Had to take penalty. Ended up doubling the hole. Then doubled the 17th as well with a not bad 5H off the tee that just missed the green right, but left me with an awkward stance in the bunker. Got out, but barely, and had to chip on from there. 2 putt double. However, after a fairly disconcerting round, on 18, hit a monster drive dead center, nearly 3/4 of the way up the hill, probably longer than ever on that hole. Had only a 9i in. Even from a sidehill/uphill lie, was able to get it to 15 ft past pin, well above the hole with steep slope coming back. Barely touched the putt and watched it roll down the steep slope, into the hole for bird. Nice ending to an otherwise disappointing round.
