Course was extremely wet. Playing blue tees wasn't an option. Ball was stopping immediately upon landing making everything play much longer. White tees were the right choice. Even tee boxes were saturated. Rain had been going for about 18 hours and had just stopped an hour before tee off.
Didn't play poorly, but did have some trouble with the wet turf. Shots that were normally clean and crisp seemed to feel fat at times, though divot was always in front of ball after impact. Came up short on 4 or 5 shots on the front nine partially due to interaction with very soft ground and partially due to lack of roll. Ball nearly plugged many times and left ballmark in fairway very close to where it ended up.
Hit great sand wedge 85 yards to 4 ft on 6th, but MISSED THE BIRDIE PUTT! Then again on 8th, hit pitching wedge from 108 out to 6 ft., and MISSED THE BIRDIE PUTT AGAIN! Frustrating. Hit 5i approaches on 11, 12 and 18 from 165-180 out and put the ball within making distance each time, the 18th to 12 feet....and missed the putt for bird.
Blew up on 15 with 3W off tee into woods. Stroke and distance plus another errant approach from downhill lie ruined that hole and any chance of a really good round.
Met up with Rich (Lefty) on 16 and played the last two holes with him. Par par. He always brings my game out.
Could have been better, but not bad overall.
