Raining to start. Played with Ben. Very wet surface conditions. Had trouble hitting hybrids and 5W off the saturated fairway. Hit irons well though. Driver still not right. Drove first tee shot well left and left me with 148 to hole from down the sidehill in rough to a pin back right. Hit 7 iron dead at pin. Ball mark was 5 ft short of pin, but got a little bounce and went past and 2 ft off the green. Chipped to 1' to start with up and down par. Then hit 6i off tee to 30' on 2nd and made par. Good start, but had some trouble on super wet turf on 3rd. Played the rest of the front, just okay. Drives were mostly good, but was getting much more fade than I would have liked on most of them. Losing distance as a result. The only drives that didn't leave me with a realistic chance to make par landed in fairway bunkers, of which all had high enough lips that using anything but a fairly lofted club was not an option. So each of them required an extra shot to get to the green. Then on 16, pulled my 8i off the tee just enough to land in the deep greenside bunker with the 12 foot face. Took me two shots to get out and had to play out almost sideways just to get out. I hate that bunker. Hit irons pretty well all day with the exception of a shanked 6 iron on the 7th which resulted in double bogey.
Left shoulder was quite unstable. A little concerned. No pain, just lots of clunking. Hope it is just scar tissue from the surgery acting up in the wet weather. At least it kept my mind off the right shoulder rotator cuff issues.
