Played with Keith, Paul and Greg. Played pretty well considering I was a bit intimidated by the long balls that Paul and Greg hit off the tee. Greg was easily and consistently 300 yards. Too many found trouble though. At the end of the day, I had the best score by keeping it in play and under control. Even my poor shots were not bad. Had a pretty good front, then was even par on the back after the first five holes. However, the wheels fell off on the next two holes after a perfect drive on 15. I was licking my chops standing over the approach shot, feeling I had birdie in sight. 125 out with 9 iron in hand. Somehow, I skulled it right into the bunker. I think it was the downhill lie that got me. I was so focused on the pin, I forgot to stay down through the shot and caught it thin. In any case, got it out and on, but freakin' three putted from about 20 feet. The first was a hard slider which was nearly impossible. Left me with a 6 footer back, which I rimmed out. That double hurt, but then I proceeded to put my tee shot on the 16th into the bunker. Then got it out, but not onto the green on my 2nd. A nice chip to 4 feet, but missed the easy putt for a 2nd double in a row. I was leaking fast. Salvaged two bogeys with good up and downs on 17 and 18 to save the ship from sinking completely. Even so, overall, it was a pretty good round.
