Cold Wind and very windy. Seemed like every hole wind was in our face. At least a two club wind. Played with Ben & Richie.
Good drive and 7 iron approach for GIR par on 1. Then on two, with only 160 yards to pin I hit my 190 yard club into the strong headwind and landed it pin high. I got every bit of it too. Probably was a 195 yard shot on a calm day. Three putted for bogey. Could not putt today. Think the howling wind was making it difficult.
Was very tough playing conditions today. Even so, actually hit the ball very well all day, but just couldn't score. My generally good short game let me down on more than a couple occasions. Driver was mostly great all day, though I pulled one on third into hazard and had to take penalty. Course was wet. I plugged three drives that felt like really well hit ones, that ended up being much shorter due to the wind and wetness. On 15, hit a really good drive. When I got to it, only half the ball was showing it plugged so deeply. I think it cost me another 30 yards.
Frustrating to be hitting hybrids into greens all day. The wind was relentless. Not a good start for the first in-season official GHIN round. Fun just the same. Course moved well all day. No waiting. Cold wind scared everyone off.
