Turned out to be a gorgeous day. Near 70 degrees. Played with Ben and Keith. Richie played with us on the front nine.
Game is still weak. Timing is off a tick. Good thing I spent a half hour in the practice bunker this morning. Was in 7 bunkers in this round. Only had one sandy, on 18th. Hit it to about a foot. Used 60-07 wedge instead of 56-11 from most bunkers today. Had Five 3-putts. Greens were aerated last week. Though they had good speed, short putts did not track well at all. They were easily knocked off line by various larger grains of sand on the greens from the aeration.
Still having lots of distance issues. Drives are 20 yards shorter than normal and all other clubs seem short too. Course is still a little damp, but the warmer temps and light wind should have helped distance some.
Highlights:
Reached in regulation on 4th from 195 out with 19*H. Lagged up to 3' from 45'
Flopped from steep hill on left side of green on 9th to 1' to save par.
82-yard 56* approach to 2' on 12th.
178-yard approach on 15th to make GIR after hitting hybrid off tee instead of driver.
Drive on 17th.
Drive on 18th.
Nice out on 18th to 1 ft. for sandy.
Lowlights:
After GIRs on 1st and 2nd, three-putted both. Tough start.
Triple on 5th after weak drive into deep rightside fairway bunker. Pitched out then hit weak 24* short of greenside bunker, then flopped w/60*, right into bunker.
Poor PW approach on 6th into bunker. Hit down on stone or something. Went way offline.
7 iron approach on 8th into bunker. Aimed at that bunker, but expected a bit of right to left. It went straight.
Drive way right, hit tree on 11th.
Topped hybrid on 12th.
Short, weak, offline 8 iron off tee on 13th.
A bunch of poor putts throughout (of which I can chalk some up to the bumpy aerated greens, but still too many 3 putts).
