Windy. Mid-50s to start up to Low 60s. Ben Keith and Jim.
Played like a hack. However, kept the ball in play for the most part, off the tee with the exception of two times when there were some distractions going on in the background. Got in my head. 16 and 17.
Greens were still not rolling true on short putts, but they were rolling quickly. A couple/few 3-putts.
Had some major trouble with hybrid today. Kept trying to swing easy due to the howling wind and for some reason, kept topping the ball. When I went at it hard, I hit it okay. Hit irons with no problem, except on 16th off the tee when I got distracted by voices. Golf is such a head game.
Hit long drives on 6, 7 and 8, yet could only pull off one par in the bunch. On par 5 8th, drive was as long as any in-season, warm weather drive I've hit there. But I hit a poor hybrid from there. Instead of being 70 or 80 yards out, with a realistic chance to wedge it close for a bird, I left myself 129 in to that tough green. Left it in bunker. Then hit a good out of bunker that on a normal green would have ended up close to the hole. On this ridiculously sloped green, it rolled slowly past the hole...and continued to roll...and roll...slowly down the slope and off the green. There is only one place to land the ball safely on that green. I know where it is. I have to learn to manage that green approach better.
10th was bad. Weak, fairly short drive, though in the fairway. then two bad hybrids. Penalty. Double bogey.
11th was good. One of few today. GIR par. Nice 7 iron from 145 out to to blind pin, ended up hole high.
13th hit near perfect 7 iron right at pin, but wind pushed it a bit. Landed over bunker, but caught rake on first bounce and stopped in rough. Bad break.
Got pissed off on 16th tee and completely ruined the rest of my round, which was not going well before that anyway.
