Cool, mid 50s. Played with Ben and Mary Ann played the front nine with us. Focused on her game and didn't pay much attention to mine. As a result, played okay. Certainly better than yesterday.
Drove the ball well. No bad drives but did have a bit of a pull draw on 14th that landed in decent shape just left of the fairway, but due to the draw spin, bounced left and trickled into the lateral hazard. Had to take a penalty/drop.
Found 4 greenside bunkers, two of which were on one hole. Landed in the left far bunker on 18, but didn't realize it. Thought I had cleared it. So, when I went to look for my ball, I brought a 60* for flopping and a 52 for chipitching. When I found the ball in the bunker I realized I needed my 56 for a long bunker shot, over the next bunker. Too lazy to run back, I tried the shot by squaring the face of the 60 for some added distance. Didn't quite make it over the 2nd bunker. Got up and down for bogey with a sandy from the 2nd bunker though. Also made an up and down sandy from greenside bunker on 5th.
On 12th, reached green in reg, but just barely. Pin was way back. Ball was an inch or two onto front edge. Putt was over 100 feet, easy. Basically the entire length of the green. Whacked it, a bit too hard and it rolled all the way through and off the green. I was determined to make the chip back and said out loud to Ben, "I'm making this chip." Pulled a 60* since the pin was only two or three paces in and was slightly downhill. Made the chip to save par.
4th was only bad hole and only because my good short game wasn't so good. Skulled my pitch over the green and across the cart path into deep grass on side of hill. Pitched back onto green, but ball rolled well past hole, probably 40 feet. Then took 3 putts to get down.
The greens need some mowing and rolling. Aeration still not healed. Though they have some speed in them, they are bumpy and untrue. Short or slow putts won't hold a line. Long putts bounce all the way to the hole.
Today was better than yesterday, but still a long way from my good, solid regular game.
