Went out late, alone. No pressure. Played a little better. Finally broke out of the high 80s.
Started on 11th. Hit drive just a touch right, up on side hill. Hook lie. Hooked it into bunker left of green. 56* out and in for birdie! Good start.
Real good drive on 12. Good distance, slight draw. Hit approach a little left of green, but pin high. Flop up was short. Chip on, then two putt for double. Maybe not such a good start after all.
Harold stopped by while I was on the tee at 13 and watched while I hit a 6 iron pretty well, but a touch long. 25 foot putt up hill to 3 feet. Made par putt. Par on 14 after great drive and 8 iron in. Another excellent drive on 15, but thinned approach into deep rough right. Real good drive on 17th, then 2nd shot left me 48 yards out. Came up short with pitchip, then chip was a little long. 2 putt bogey. Pulled drive far left on 18, into tree by left bunker. Had to hack it out of deep rough with 5i. Hit sw approach to 5 feet and made putt to save par.
Drive on 1st drifted into thick rough right next to fairway. Consequently, took an extra club for approach, but didn't get it clean and ended up in front pot bunker. Bogey. Bogey on 2 as well. Okay drive on third, then pulled 4W into crap on left. Took unplayable penalty. Ended with double.
On 4th, was sure I eagled it. Hit 6i approach straight at pin. Rolled up to pin and disappeared. Was sure it went in. Pin was all the way back. When I got there, I found it had rolled past the pin and into rough a couple inches. Big disappointment. Either way, it was a real nice shot. Three good shots on 8 and again on 10 got me on in regulation on both and down in two for pars.
Felt good to make a few more pars than what has been way too few per round of late. Still a long way to go before my game is back. Saw some life though today. Hit some real nice drives today, but a few not so good ones too. Continue to hit 4W well. Happy to sneak this round in tonight. 2 hours 45 mins. Nobody in my way. Was easy to keep a good rhythm.
