60s Sunny. Tee off at 5:30 pm on 10th. Played with Keith and John (from pro shop). Putted a little before round, but no time to hit balls. Big mistake. Driver swing was all over the place again. No rhythm, no balance, poor finishes, timing off, same as it's been with the exception of that one day a week or so ago. Even iron swing was short and stiff. Swing forced, not free and easy. Hit one good gap wedge on 17 to the correct distance which resulted in birdie and a 7 iron off the tee on 16 to birdie length (but missed it). Burned 3 or 4 cups with none dropping. Penalty on 14th into lateral hazard. Resulted in double. Even with swing off, didn't get me in too much trouble, but enough to post another higher than average score.
After playing back nine, Keith continued on to play front. I decided to hit the range to see if I could figure things out. Within the first few swings, my timing felt really good. I started hitting perfect iron shots with a nice freedom to the swing. Had nice path into the ball, taking shallower divots and getting great contact. One after another, after another. Pulled driver and used the same rhythm and tempo. Baby draw after draw. Even the ones I didn't strike on the screws were decent drives and more importantly I was finishing every drive in perfect balance, with total completion. Night and day from the way I am driving the ball on the course.
I know it's in there. I saw it on the range. Somehow, I have to get it back on the course. I have to loosen up. Handicap is soaring.
