Terrible. First round in FL on this trip. Pain from hernia got very uncomfortable, very quickly. Started on 10th (played back first) with perfect drive, about 240 yds. Then 9 iron to 12 feet. The 2 hdcp I was playing with was surely thinking he had some competition. Next hole, drive leaked just a little, but it was an extremely tight fwy with no room for any leakage. In trees. Punch hit a tree, back in trees. Tried again, hit another tree. When I finally got close to green was able to chip to 2 ft and get down with one putt for a triple. Within a few more holes, the pain started to come on strong. By the 17th, I had to pop 3 advil (after 3 an hour before the round) with hopes it would subside enough to make it through the next nine. It didn't, but I pressed on. Every swing felt like I was splitting apart a little. I could not get all the way through a swing. Somehow I parred 2 of the last 3 holes. I did not use a driver on either. I think that helped. Though the pain was worse on the second nine, I salvaged a decent score.
The slope rating on this course is incorrect on here. It is rated at 127. Oob has it lower. WIll try to have it changed. It seemed 127 was way too low. Very tight. Locals say, "Hit it straight or take an 8." They aren't kidding.
With no pain and some local knowledge, I feel like I could play this course very well. Maybe next year.
DougEly says:I wish it were my back right now. It's a groin hernia. Surgery is on the horizon I think. That's gonna cut into my season.
