Gorgeous afternoon. Hard to call this round "out of season" but technically, the season doesn't officially start for about 2 weeks. The course, for the most part, is in great condition and the greens are near mid-season form. I however, am not. Something is going on with my swing. Driver is real inconsistent again. Best clubs in the bag right now are my hybrids and 5 wood, and of course, my short irons, as always. Best shot of the day actually turned out to get me more yardage than I banked on. Was hitting 4H (my old Adams a7) at a pin that was 189 yards away. Hit that sucker dead perfect, right at the pin which was at the very back of the green. The ball rolled within inches of the pin, slow enough to go in, but just missed hole and rolled just off the back of the green and down an embankment about 2 yards, so that I was short sided chipping back. Made a good chip to about 7 feet past, but missed the putt and settled for bogey. I think I am going to put that hybrid back in my bag for awhile. I hit it almost as long as my Titleist 910H 19*. I also hit it near perfect from 175 out, uphill to a back pin on the 12th to 4' and made the birdie put. Not sure which of those two was better, but both of those shots felt awesome. Had a few other memorable shots today too. Chipped from 20 yards to 6" on the 1st for up and down par. Hit a great 5W approach on par 5 3rd from about 200 out to about 20 feet, but missed the birdie putt by a couple inches. There were a couple others also. None were great drives though, and that is concerning me a little. I hit a bunch of fairways, but there just doesn't seem to be any pop in my drives right now. Thankfully, I have been playing my hybrids and 5W well enough to pick up the slack.
Sore after today's round. Back, right shoulder, left elbow tendonitis. I'm in for a tough season if I'm hurting this much. It's only March!
