Played with Ben (and my Oob friend Dusty, though in absentia). Hernia continues to be aggravated. Noticed it most with driver. Got me in trouble a few times today. Just not getting through the ball like I had been up until last week anyway. Definite concerns, but probably won't be playing for at least a few days, so maybe it will calm down.
Started on 10th. Place was packed due to forecast of near 50 degrees. Tee sheet had 80 players scheduled from 9am-1pm. There were a number of groups on the 1st tee, all with money bets, so we knew it would be slow behind them. Instead, we snuck off the back, ahead of the first twosome of the day who were just getting off the 8th green. We never saw them again. We flew. Finished back nine in 1 hour and 20 minutes, even with cart-path-only.
Very soft conditions. Messy, deep wedge divots. No fun hitting off the thin wet fairways. Played new G25 4W a lot today and continue to like the results, even in the terrible, saturated conditions. The only negative to the 4W is the fact that the ball flight can get pretty high, which in these wet conditions, does not bode well for any run out.
Played the par 3s well today. Picked the right club off the tee in all cases, which was usually one club more than you would expect.
Pulled my approach on Par 5 8th well left and short, leaving me 51 yards to the pin from the rough. Pitched a very high 60 wedge to 1 foot to save par. On the par 5 17th, hit my PW approach 97 yards to 2 feet for a nice birdie. Of course that came after a double on 15. In the woods on the right again...this time with the new 4W which I hit straight just about every other time I used it. It's all psychological on that hole. Hate it.
I miss lush green cushy fairways and 75 degree temps, but ANY golf in the northeast a week before Christmas is still a gift.
