Keith, Ben, Paul B. Mostly sunny. Game a little off today. Mostly driver. Timing not right. But also missed a few iron shots too. Played inconsistently. Some good holes, some not so good. Didn't putt well until the last few holes when I decided to stop over-analyzing so much and just hit it where and how hard my gut felt it. Took two 2-stroke penalties in lieu of stroke and distance. Both on drives that I didn't hit a provisional which I could not find. The first one, on the 8th, seemed to land in the left fairway bunker. Everyone in the group thought so, but it was nowhere to be found when I got to it. Next group was already standing on the tee, so just dropped and added 2 strokes. Then on par 5 17th, lost one a little right. Saw it bounce right, close to the treeline, but really thought it was in play. It wasn't. No provisional. Took 2 more penalty strokes. Hit 4th shot into next fairway bunker, then out, but short of green by 20 yards. Then a 60* pitch over the greenside bunker to 15' where I made a great putt for a "mulli"par. (7)
Played too many holes poorly today. However, most were as a result of poor tee shots that got me in tough situations or lies. Could have been worse.
Went to the range afterward to try and work out the driver issue. Started by hitting a bunch of 4W draws off the tee. Dialed that swing in in case the driver doesn't come around tomorrow, but did find something that was helping with the driver swing. We'll see if it continues to work tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Oxford Cup Qualifier against Ben and Richie tomorrow as long as the heavy rain holds off.
