Played with a couple guys I didn't know, though one of whom (Mike) I have seen for a few years on the range and around the practice green. Never knew he was a member. Good player. But he only played nine today. The other, Gary, was a big powerful guy who had a lot of trouble to start, but eventually got his game somewhat together after settling in.
I played solidly again, with the exception of a couple drives on 5 and 6 where my hip nearly gave out. And one on 17. Took Advil on 7th and by the back nine I was pretty much back on track.
Started 10 with a birdie which was almost an eagle. Hit a PW approach from 110 out to 2 inches. Looked perfect from the time it left the clubface. Felt perfect too. Nearly was.
Only real bad hole was 17th. After mentioning to Gary who hit the ball long, (but could not control it) that I usually keep my scores in check because I don't have big misses off the tee. I then proceeded to hit one into trouble well right which cost me a stroke penalty. Should have just kept my mouth shut and finished the round before opening my mouth about how in control my drives usually are. Stupid. Hashtag: "Jinxed it!".
