Played with Mike and a guy from Wintonbury Hills GC who blasted it a mile. Jason. Good player.
Hit the ball straight for the most part off the tee, but was really trying to draw it a bit as I had done on 15 of 17 near-perfect drives on the range right before the round began. The best drive on the course was the one I hit on 14, which actually did draw (surprise!), ending up in the left lateral water hazard for a penalty, resulting in double bogey. Was having a decent round until that point. Then on 15, drive was okay, but ended up in rough on right side with poor lie. Tried to dig it out with a 5 iron and lined it into water hazard 80 yards in front of me. Another penalty, another double. Back to back.
Made some real nice putts throughout the round which would just not fall. Twice I had already started to walk after a putt, sure it was in, but at the very last second turned due to some imperfection around the hole--either a spike mark or sand pebble, whatever. It was frustrating to watch putts tracking perfectly and just bounce off line within a few inches of the hole. Even Mike and Jason were like "what the hell happened there?"
Left a few strokes out there, but hit the ball fairly well the whole round. Not unhappy with my play...just with my luck.
