Cold and Sunny. About 50 degrees to start. Got up to about 54. Started on 5th, sneaking in between a couple groups, one halfway down 4th and the other halfway down 6th. Rushed to make sure we were done with 5th by the time the group behind got to the tee. Wasn't the best start. Put drive into deep fairway bunker. Hit top of lip and barely got out. Then 4h a little right of green. Chip to 15 feet and luckily dropped putt to save bogey. Played okay after that for the most part. Best hole started as worst hole. On 14th tee blasted drive into ground and it rolled about 70 yards. Then hit 4W from over 300 out to about 98 out. Hit PW to 25 feet long, then sunk the 25 footer to save par, after barely getting past the front tees with my drive. On 15th was on in regulation and sunk another 25 footer for birdie.
Started getting quite cold by about 3:30. Couldn't wait to finish. Lost focus and bogied the rest of the way in, through the 4th (final) hole. Played 5th for a 2nd time, but bogied it again as well.
Other than the bad drive on 14, hit the ball decently most of the round. Couple 3-putts hurt. Greens were much faster today than yesterday, but they were still quite bouncy due to the aeration holes.
Back to Worthington next week.
DougEly says:Have to be back in CT a few more times between now and the end of the year to deal with closing my business, moving the business and finishing a couple projects up before I do either. I will be sure to try and get out at Oxford Greens for a round or two when I'm here as long as it stays open and the temps stay above freezing. Gotta get every last penny I can out of my membership!
