Played with a super nice guy who is the bureau chief of a Lebanese news TV station in DC. Really enjoyed his company and as a result, played fairly well. Even my bad holes were decent. Made a lot of nice shots today. Disappointed on 10 and 11 with approach shots, one from a fairway bunker which went about 30 yards and other from 76 yards out in deep rough. It came up well short as I got more grass than I anticipated. Since I seem to play the back better than the front so far, I really thought I was gonna break 80 today for the first time at Worthington after carding a 39 on the front. Could have been lower if I made a couple easy putts. Missed a 4 footer for birdie on 5th. Missed a 7 footer on 18 for birdie as well. I wimped out and forgot to hit it. Came up a foot short. Dumb.
I was worried about a muscle tear in my left calf after playing Wednesday and then hardly being able to walk on Thursday. I considered going to a walk-in clinic it was so bad. I was afraid I might not be able to play for a few weeks, but it felt a lot better Friday even though it was making a clicking sound when I walked. Since the pain was pretty much gone today and the clicking was slightly better, I decided to try playing. Surprisingly, played a pretty good round with no pain in the leg. And to think at one point on Thursday I thought I might have a hairline fracture or something.
