Had to try this place again. Wind blowing just like it was earlier in the week. Warmer, around 80 or so. As I was brought to the tee to be paired up with another single, I recognized him as Daryl, the same guy I played with on Tuesday. What are the odds?
Played fairly well, but again the wind was a huge factor. Just like Tuesday, must have rolled 5 or 6 putts part way over the open hole, but somehow they did not fall. The guys I was playing with commented I should have shot around par had they fallen. They couldn't believe how close I was on so many putts. I had good speed on all but 2 very long lags which ended as 3-putts.
Finished nicely with a great approach to about 5' and finally sunk one for bird. Got up and down a bunch of times today. Wind limited my GIRs. Hit all but 2 fairways. Didn't lose a ball, though I did hit my second shot on par 5 14th too far right and the wind kept pushing it. It rolled just into water hazard. Was able to pull it out, take a penalty drop and save bogey (and the ball).
Would love to play this course with no wind. I think I'd have a chance. The only time the wind was actually with us was on the par 3 15th and the par 4 14th. Parred both. All other holes the wind was against us or across us. Uncanny. Played 1 or 2 extra clubs on approaches and par 3s all day and even 3 extra on a couple occasions.
Back to MD tomorrow. CT next week. Gonna be cold.
