Cold. 40s. Played with Ben. Had too many layers on. Had to take jacket off to be able to make a good swing, so froze when the sun started to go down later in the afternoon.
Hit the ball pretty well off the tee. Only missed 2 or 3 fairways, one of which ended in deep fairway bunker on 12th. Had to get used to the soft turf. On the first few iron shots I was trying to be too careful so as not to take a deep divot off the soft fairways, but was getting the ball too thin. Eventually just started using my regular iron swing and played those shots better on the back nine. Outdrove Ben pretty much all day, by a long shot on many holes. Felt good to hit the ball decent distance in the cold and soft conditions. Hit an extra club or sometimes two extra clubs on approaches due to the cold, wetness and wind. Greens were winter fuzzy. Hard to find a good speed. Uphillers were extremely slow. Downhillers surprisingly fast, though not mid-summer fast.
It was good to catch up with Ben. Wasn't expecting to play at all this trip to CT, but couldn't resist when the temps started to rise by mid morning from the 20s into the 40s and the sun was shining bright.
